How to Make Toilet Cleaner at Home

Listen. I never buy toilet cleaners.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sanitary, I swear! Every area of the home needs to be clean…even the jobs nobody wants to do. But honestly making toilet cleaner yourself is by far cheaper and easier. Just pour the ingredients into the toilet and walk away, plus the two whole ingredients are common household items. With busy lives, everyone has things to do so the less we have to stress on the “dirty jobs” the better.

This recipe to make toilet cleaner is arguably not even a recipe in that it’s not a single mix that you bottle and pour. If you were to try to bottle a mix, the ingredients would just clump and solidify. Technically, you could still dump it in, but it would be a waste of time, energy, and a jar.

If you know anything about me, Youd know that wasting jars is not my forte.

The basic cleaner does a great job all on its own; no supporting characters needed! If you want to be a little extra (which I know a lot of you are) then go for my favorite, the lemon fresh cleaner. Using lemon and tea tree adds uplifting and protective properties to your bathroom. Who wouldn’t want that?

The smell of lemon just screams clean, and everyone will notice.

Fun fact, the first cleaners were made out of lemon or pine because of how well they work, how good they smell, and their disinfectant properties. That’s what makes them so popular and why our brains associate those scents with cleanliness. When I said lemon and pine, I bet some OG cleaners popped into your head. You’re welcome.

You don’t have to rely on going to the store to have a clean and sparkly home, and you don’t need the air to be filled with toxic chemicals to do it. Try one of these recipes out, or even make your own! I love matching different scents throughout the house, like a lemony bathroom, a eucalyptus living room, etc. Create scent-harmony and have fun!
